Amazing
views of the Himalaya and the Tibetan countryside greet
you on the
overland drive from Kathmandu. En route, visit Shigatse,
the second largest city in Tibet, site of the Tashihunpo
monastery. The seat of the Panchen Lamas, Tashihunpo is
a vast complex with a golden rooftops and impressive chapels.
Although having suffered the ravages of man and time, Gyantse,
our next stop, with its unique Palkor Chode temple
and Kumbum Chorten, offers a glimpse of an irretrievably
lost era in some of the most extraordinary works of art
found in all Tibet.
In the mystical capital of Lhasa, there is ample time to
explore the former home of the Dalai Lama, Potala Palace,
Tibets world famous resplendent landmark with over
1,000 rooms and 10,000 shrines. There is also Jokhang, Tibets
holiest temple with its priceless statues and frescoes,
and the Norbulinka, or Summer Place, from which the present
Dalai Lama fled in 1959. Shoppers, mustnt miss the
Barkhor, the bustling bazaar of old Lhasa which is right
on the pilgrims circumambulating route around Jokhang.
Laden with souvenirs and memories of Tibet, you fly back
to Kathmandu in a mountain flight that treats you to close-up
views of the mighty Himalayas. This adventure begins and
ends with two days in Kathmandu, with plenty of time for
discovering the citys many attractions.

Journey
to the center of Earth-Holy Mount Kailash
( SIMIKOT-KAILASH- Tholing Tsaprang - Zhangmu - 22 DAYS)
The
adventure begins with the drive across the Himalaya east
into Tibet to Holy Lake Manasorover. Here you will join
the throngs of pilgrims who, for centuries, have converged
on this remote southwestern corner of Tibet to circumambulate
the sacred mountain, considered to be the center of the
universe by Hindus and Buddhist alike. Ancient cosmography
identifies Kailash with the mighty mountain Sumeru, the
central peck of the world. To Buddhist, the Father
Mountain represents the means to enlightenment; Lake
Mansarovar, the mother principle, represents
transcendental consciousness. Hindus consider Kailash to
be the throne of Lord Shiva, one of the three principle
gods of the Hindu pantheon, whose long, matted hair form
s
the holy Ganges River. As a Bon center, Kailash enjoys great
popularity the folk religion of Tibet- it is the soul of
the country and assures protection for all Tibetans. The
fountain head of four bread Asian rivers, few mountain reveals
Kailash for its mystique, isolation and prominence for 3
days, you will walk with pilgrims around this almost perfectly
symmetrical mountain and the sightseeing of the ruins of
lost Guge Kingdom Tholing and Tsaprang, before the Trek
back into Nepal. Your trek pioneered by Experience Himalaya
Manasarovar travels and tours takes you into the heart of
Nepals highest district situated in the remote northern
riches of the country. Few trekkers have walked these trials,
unchanged over the ages. The encounter with the herders,
pilgrims and the local Thukaries people will be lively and
make for precious memory. A flight from the small airport
of Simikot takes you to Nepalgung, from where you catch
a flight to Kathmandu and the end of the unique adventure
in the far riches of the Himalayan with memories to last
a lifetime.

of the Buddhist cosmology. And Ganden, founded by Tsongkhapa

LHAMO
LHATSO (ORACLE LAKE) Tour/trek
MAXIMUM ELEVATION : 5000M.
TYPE OF TREK : Camping Trek.
TREK GRADE : Moderate - Adventurous.
According
to the legend three mountains; the red, white and Blue Mountains
enclose Choky gorge, supposedly there is a square rock on
the valley floor holding the key to a hidden treasure. When
times are bad the treasure will activate the three mountains
causing them to close in and form a hidden valley (Beyul)
Shangri-La. below the White Mountain there are some beautiful
ruins forts. Dalai Lama used to stay there when on pilgrimage
to the Holy lake Lhamo Lhatso. Few nomads live in the area.
Pilgrimage from Gyatsa, Yarlung and Lhasa passes their way
to Lhamo Lhatso.
From
Choky gorge there is a climb passing by some smaller lakes
up to a pass overlooking Lhamo Lhatso. Lhamo Lhatso known
as Lhatso (Life force lake) of the Dalai Lama and is the
most important vision lake of Tibet every Dalai Lama comes
in this lake at least once in his life time to look for
vision concerning his future and the circumstance of his
death. The vision would appear on the surface of the lake.
There were also made pilgrimages here to divine the location
of the Dalai Lama's next incarnation.
Very few people continue down to the lake, as the path is
very difficult to
walk. To sit on the ridge for an hour or more looking for
the vision in the
lake is fantastic, even if you would not see any vision.
